Hi guys quick question, I have a wreck I want the motor out, is it easier to remove the motor and trans or just the motor, im looking for the fasted easiest way besides skull dragging it out, I can deal with the trans later

prob quicker ta take both out at once depending on what the cars sitting on ie concrete/grass

If you just want the motor out for now, do what i did and unbolt the bellhousing from the trans, and lever it off the input shaft (make sure you have something holding the trans up so it dont fall though) and you will need a big f**k off lever (i used a metal star post thing) basically unbolted everthing. Lifted the motor slightly with crane, put a jack under the trans, levered it off the input shaft and lift out... Its only 4 easy access bolts holding the trans to the bellhousing.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that lol. Yeah if its auto you may as well just take the whole lot out at once, would be easier i would think (especially if your laying on the ground with not much clearance, cant see what your doing and have no one to help haha), but manual you can do the way i described above. Made it a hell of a lot easier...

The position it was in I had to remove from the side of the car, so trans couldn't come out I hade to unbolt bell housing and T/C but was hard man, ya got no room at all! plus I couldn't get the car any higher than 3 bricks.
BUT! She's out now I was wondering, do you guys no if I can put a bar long EL into an EF? the idea is to regasket the EL motor, redo the head, welsh plugs just all that jazz and have a nice sealed motor for my EF.....

Yeah mate EL will go straight into EF BUT you have to run coilpacks, crank angle sensor and cam sensor, not dizzy unless you wanna swap the ecu and loom to EL (which i think causes other issues anyway). Also keep the EF alternator and put on EL motor, and you may have to fit EF timing cover to EL motor. I think thats it someone can add to that or clarify...

Always count on Troyman! So just use the bare long and add EF accessories, and sensors right?

If the car your removing the engine & trans from is a wreck, just cut the radiator support panel/frame off, and hook up the engine & trans in such a way as to balance it a little, and remove it that way......will make it way easy.

That's a good idea, but its a hair and a beez away from the lawn , no access lol its out anyone and the trans is a wreck, just need to build the motor up and regasket it and add the manual behind it, speaking of which, do you's no were to get a rebuild kit from?
