Fast clicks? Sounds like a flat battery.

Is it the starter clicking? or relays?
Maybe you forgot the small wire off the starter motor. |

If you can get to it, try tapping the starter solenoid with a hammer.
There's only two things required for the starter to work, power to the motor, and the trigger wire. If you have a multimeter, check the trigger wire for 12V when the key is turned to crank, and also check the power wire for 12V. |

dead starter seams to be your issue, a quick word of advise, get yourself a BF starter, slots straight in, is smaller than the e series starter and easier to get your hands around whne putting that top bold in. I am using one now in the EF, fresh engine was built and installed recently, as a precautionary measure a new starter was used as it was the original. heaps more cranking power.
BF starter 100% fits and works with out an issue. More torque than the e series starters too. Bout $140ish on fleabay if you have time to wait for delivery,

silly question, but can you turn the engine over by hand?
also try starting it with no plugs in, just to see if it makes a difference
