Hi guys! As i already wrote about decidion to change my engine in ED falcon for EF one, i've got a dilema.
I've found an EF engine (160 00 kms). It is still in a smashed EF wagon which was hit from behind. Engine seems to be in preety good condition, considerably clean and no external oil leaks. Now, an automechanic told me that he's gonna put this engine in my ED falcon without any problems for $1100 with 2 months warranty, but i will keep my manifolds (intake and exhaust) from ED engine, because i'd have to change an ECU unit as well if I want to keep EF manifolds. We know that EF engine is a bit more powerfull than ED, but if I keep ED intake manifold on EF engine I guess I'll loose some power. When I asked the mechanic to change ECU unit to suit EF engine , he said this is too much work involved, and is complicated. Is this really so? Can't they just take ECU unit off from EF falcon and put it in my ED? Is there so much rewiring to do? All in all what do you think about this deal?

hes rights you you would need to change all the engine wiring looms, you would need an el ECU as weel as ef uses coil packs not a dizzy

There is no provision for a fan on EF/EL water pump and bottom hose is a different size to ED, so there is a little more work to do there fitting fans, unless he fits an ED water pump but then he has to change the pully because EF/EL use serpentine belt not individual belts. What about the A/C pump I dont think that fits either. Just a bit to think about

Yes youre right. My ed have got a few modification, thermo fans are already fitted before, so that's not gonna be a problem. Only I'm not sure for the water pump hose and A/C.

I recently had an ef engine put into my eb. I used all of the eb accesories [waterpump, air con, power steering, and fan, which will b replaced by thermos soon], which all fit straight onto the ef block, and had an aftermaket ecu put in place to handle the ef manifold. U can also use an el ECU but im not sure on how much extra wiring is needed. Better off to spend a little extra and get a good aftermaket unit.

XR6EB u converted it back to seperate belts I take it and used the eb crankshaft pully as well. I thought that the A/C unit would not fit on EF/EL blocks. Any mods needed or straight fit?
