Hey Guys

As some of you know I have a full exhaust system on my BF so the engine light is expected to come on due to the high flow cat. I have had the system for almost a year and the light has been coming on and off for a couple days at a time for about the last 2 months or so (all good and confirmed it is the second o2 sensor by plugging in the obd2 tool and looking at the error code).

However in the last week the light has come on twice for about 10 - 20 seconds but instead of being solid it has flashed repeatedly and then turned off. When the light is flashing the car is still running fine just like normal so not really sure whats going on. I dont know if its the same o2 sensor kicking the error in an on and off fashion quickly and hence the flashing?

I can prolly get it plugged into the obd tool on the weekend to check for any new errors but thought i would ask here first, i also havent had time to check my ford book to see if it mentions anything in there about it flashing so hoping someone here can shed some light.

P0420 - Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

The catalytic converter has an oxygen sensor in front and behind it. When the vehicle is warm and running in closed loop mode, the upstream oxygen sensor waveform reading should fluctuate. The downstream O2 sensor reading should be fairly steady. Typically the P0420 code triggers the Check Engine Light if the readings of the two sensors are similar. This is indicative of (among other things) a converter that is not working as efficiently as it should be (according to specs). It is part of the vehicle emissions system.

just get it custom tuned and be done with it

Yeha pretty sure thats the one when i get it checked last time but that was whe the light was solid on. On 2 separate occasions its has flashed repeatedly for about 10 seconds and then turned off again. Not sure if its the same reason or a different engine issues thats causing the flash. I will be checking for new errors tomorrow but thought i would ask to see if anyone has had theirs flash before
