how far should the engine move when revved in drive or reverse,,i was checking the mounts,,when i reverse it moved about two inches,,in drive it only moved about an inch,,does that mean the drivers side mount is stuffed?

i dont think there should be much movement at all really. they are fairly solid rubber mounts

Leroy wrote: i dont think there should be much movement at all really. they are fairly solid rubber mounts the top of the motor will move about 25mm in torque twist,the mounts are half way down and have almost no movement,but oil and rubber fatigue will break them and they are vulcanised-the rubber is fused to the steel plates-similar to brake shoes and pads,this can fail.get a lever under the mounting and watch the rubbers,if the seperate from plates,they have a safety lock in the steel design so you can get to a garage to replace them. check both sides

90% of the time the drivers side one will break because the engine tries to turn around the crank so it places all its torque on that mount. If the other side breaks it is generally because of reverse/first wheelies.
