Im using Hpr 5 full syn 5w40 in my au motor. Mainly because I thrash it lots. Sounds healthy no noises at all only has 130,000 on it though

The only reason i run 20/60 is because I want to.
Since I've been using that particular oil the engine has been running smoother and quieter and noticeably cleaner. Be it a worn engine or whatever you want, she loves it so I give it to her.

I'll tell you this, we have AUs that come in that if you put a 0 grade anywhere near it it would go straight out the exhaust, the reality is not everyone's low k au is like yours tickford_6. and majority will take a thicker oil and "run better".
Yes that's not the way it should be, but not everyone looks after their cars like you do.

180 000km isn't low.

I just don't like the blanket statements that far to many people throw around. Every oil thread on this site has at least one person claiming that you should run thicker oil after 100 000km and it's s**t.
It should be a case by case thing and I'd almost put money on it that most members are using oil that to thick. Penrite has a lot answer for. Extra 10 my f**k a***.

We were using penrite at work for a while there.
Pro 10, plus 10, pro 15 plus, plus 15, hpr 15 plus 10. Dl1, enviro 0/30 plus, like f**k, I know oils ain't oils, but when you look up what oil to put in a camry and you get 8 options it's a bit ridiculous.

Thats why I use Fuchs at work.

GTO1030 and XTM1040 covers %90 of whats out there. Then Cargo1540 covers %90 of diesel including most DPF cars.

I have all of those in 205 drums, and then keep a few oils in 20L drums to make up the other %10.

GT plus 2050 for old cars
Supersyn for late models
and I buy GT1 in 4L bottles for the odd car that needs it.
Every now and then I find the odd ball car that needs something else, But our Fuchs rep is pretty good and will normally deliver within 20mins.

When you add in all the gear oils, At any given time I've got between $4000 and $6000 worth of oil sitting there.

Plus as normal for me, I like to know it works, So I spent the money on used oil analysis to prove it. (it's good oil)
