And what the hell is with the BA's sparkplugs having some tacky looking wire hang off it instead of a lead?

BA's are coil over plug. So there are no leads at all

and they claim that you will get 250'000km from these coils before failure, not bad considering on commodores and excels you would replace at least 3 coil packs in that number of km's

not so accurate about the commodores coil pack, my mates VS still has its original coil pack from since new and its done over 500,000 (passed down from family to son)

so unless u mean another commodore model.

So anyway more specificaly, what dizy is used in an EL fairmont? as i have noticed there are some variations in the E series dizzys, not a one size fits all.

Ford 6 Cyl Distributor to suit:
EA - EB - ED - EL with >>>Muilt Point Injection (MPI)<<<
Replaces Bosch Part numbers 9230065604 & F005D00002
(these part numbers are stamped on the side of the distributor)

Not sure if you have a >>multipoint or centre point?<<
How to check - Chopper under the spacer has 6 blades;
If 1 blade is smaller than the other 5 its a multipoint distributor
If they are all the same size it a centrepoint distributor

So i have an EL fairmont, do i go for the MPI dizzy? or the centerpoint?
