hey all

have stripped the tickford engine down. i want to make sure it runs well when it goes back in, so:

-sump gasket
-timing chain tensioner
-vernier gear
-head gasket
-rocker cover gasket
-recon injectors
-new fuel reg
-new oil pump
-new water pump
-h/duty valve springs

anything else i should be looking at?

what $$$ are oil & water pumps worth?

cheers! :)

Bang a screwdriver into them, and lever then out, then bang the new ones back in , with a straight edge/block of wood etc, pretty easy, and save you the trouble later on down the track, seeing as how they do corrode.

Water pumps are about $150 if I remember rightly.
Oil pumps I dont know. Maybe get a better oil pump higher flow or something.

Front main seal... not sure about the 6 cyl but 20 bucks for a v8 one... would make sense to do it if the timing gear is all coming off the front...

Easy enough job... pry old one out... carefully tap new one in...

Smack in on one edge the plug will turn around and can be removed with a pair of pliers. get stainless plugs (a little more expensive but don't corode or rust out ). balance all moving parts :)

While you have the gearbox out replace front gearbox seal as well saves removing box at a later date
