Hello, all. My poor old EL is getting a little tyred(746,000 klm will do it!), and just wanted to ask you guys if I take all my ancillaries off the original 4.0, and put them onto a 4.0 out of an AU; will I have any running issues?
Sounds like a dumb question, but I just wonder if the distributor, timing and injection off the EL will run the AU motor in the EL engine bay satisfactorily, and smoothly? Cheers, Paul.

dunno if its been done but i cant see why it wouldnt, otherwise you could leave the coil pack system on it and change the looms to EF and get an EF ecu this is what i would probably do.

Thanks for that.
how hard would it be to change the looms?

of course the other thing you can do it try and find a hybrid EL engien, they are basically an AU engine with the dizzy set up etc. so they are stronger and smoother. just need to find one thats done 100 000 k's or so and u should be cruising. if its a feb 98 or later EL it will have a hybrid motor in it

exactly id save yaself some trouble and just slap a hybrid one in if you particulary like the AUish path

Good always get a full motor setup nice bottom end rebuild and head work even slap a new au head on and get it worked....

It has been done before
The AU sump is bigger than the EF/EL k-frame, so you need to modify the actual k-frame to get it to fit (i suspect you would need an engineer to inspect it afterwards to keep it all legal). Apparently you can also machine parts of the AU to get an EL sump to fit.
