If you don't have anything useful to say, keep it to yourself, especially when it can be found offencive. They wouldn't have posted this if they were interested in a BA.

He asked for opinions, he got mine, so clam it.

I dont understand why people make it sound impossible to do.

If you can replace a regular engine you can fit a BA motor.

A decent turbo setup would need a new ecu anyways so whats the difference.

An typhoon motor complete with turbo and everything will cost you $6500 ish. Add $2500 for an ECU and that is $9K.

I know I have spent more than that on turbo conversions on NA SOHC cam motors in the past.

For that price the typhoon motor will crank out a reliable 330ish rwkw with the addition of a cooler, fuel pump and bigger injectors. Hell do the actuator mod and 380rwkw can be yours quite easily on the standard motor. I dont hear of many NA SOHC motors doing the same.

It might cost a few grand more to set it up but way more worth it IMO.

Funny i dont remember reading up the top should i get a ba or put a ba motor in my ef? No i dont think so d***head.

It was EF turbo motor or BA turbo motor in EF.

Get the BA turbo motor in there, alot of people turbo the earlier motors, and they cop it no worries! but i know what id rather if i could afford it!

hhmm ,i may be wrong, but i was under the impression if your updating an engine to a newer engine of the same model (ie. BA into EF) it didnt need to be engineered?

go for the ba mate. theres alot of people against the idea but it can be done and the potential it gives the car is well worth the money. Its really not too hard you just have to find someone with the skills to get it set up right ecu wise. I'm putting a ba in my el in the next few weeks got the engine sitting there in the workshop ready do go so don't let other peoples opinions stop you from doing what you want. theres my 2 cents.

I'll rather save over 300kg's and dump the lot into an EA Spack.

yep take the plunge, not many ef wagons out there that can claim XR6T power levels, and will be a sleeper at the lights against the un-suspecting. just depends how deep your wallet is!

yes go for it, definatley in a wagon. i love the sleeper look.
i already had a look at putting a 6 speed in my el sedan, as far as i know, it will fit. (but i am goin auto with mods in sig "to do")

i just found this link http://www.trueblueford.com/DanielsELGT.html
looks like he's done it. i think that if it fits behind a v8 it should also fit a 6 as its the same mounts - prob just diff bell housing

dan, does that control the dvct as well? i remember that the wolf 3d doesnt on jet xr, but then someone said that he got around it somehow, and maintained the use of the dvct.

a lot more positive posts lately guys, I'm liking it, i knew turbo-ing the ef would be popular due to its cost, but i feel the ba will offer heaps more potential, plus bragging rights.

I am keen to here how it goes with your el mate, some pics would be awesome!

The only way i can see i will run into trouble with the BA is sourcing parts, somewhat more scarce in NZ (or perhaps im looking in the wrong places) if anyone has any idea where to look this side of the ditch im all ears.

I get the feeling a BA xr6t in an ef wagon will be 'unique' in NZ
