reseach buddy. Why would simota australia waste there time releasing a 3in intake system with a pod when through (R&D) they developed 10RWHP gain with a 3.5in intermediate pipe with a 3.5in pod.

Performance buddy<<<R&D>>>

i talked too the bloke that does the intakes on honda's, mazda's and toyota's etc.........He dynoed these pipes on ford 4l motors. deal with the facts buddy......................

Whats to say they, Simota Australia, actually did any of this r&d, they might of just bent and cut some pipe added some clamps and filter and looked for the first sucker to listen to there stories and buy there stuff!

So a 'bloke' that does the intakes on some cars tells you that he dynoed the pipes and suddenly that means there good? you didn't even say that he dynoed them and got a gain! and whats to say he actually did test them?

And the 4L I6 is not starved of oxygen, there is no way they got 10RWHP from changing the induction setup, you could pull all the piping off and have the exposed thorttle body and I don't think you'd get that much - and with that there is absolutely no restriction (as no piping or filter)! I'd be very interested to see a dyno reading of just throttle body, no piping or filter actually.

just do the math....

I love your arguments, "just do the maths", like that means something, you need numbers to do equations! You cannot work out an equation if every figure in it is unknown to begin with!

And you keep posting that picture up of the intake like that proves anything. For anyone that isn't mesmerised by the site of some shinny piping and a pod filter it means nothing more than some blokes car whos running a pod filter sucking in all his hot engine bay air!

Dyno proven results are crap unless you do them yourself because anyone who does it has something that want to prove. There was a thread not that long ago on another forum that proved on the dyno that the very mod you are talking about (replacing that section of pipe with a larger diameter) would lose 2kw compared to the standard AU pipe.

Personally Ive spent enough time on the dyno to know the reality of intakes and dyno numbers. The kind of results i would like to see is how many 1/10's a good intake is worth...

I saw that exact intake in use on the Dyno @ Crescent motorsport a couple of weeks ago. 8KW gain when the pipe was removed!

hahaha, OWNED.

data_mine and i tested full 3"intake pipe form box to throttle body, it increased by 2rwkw on my stock and 4rwkw on data_mine's modified engine.

that pipe and filter wouldn't do s**t at best.

this guy probably thinks that everything "Autobarn" sells increases rwkw. maybe we shoudl all go buy 4"cannon's and gain like a fully sick 25rwkw.

Why bother?

Is this going to be one of those stupid raging battles, ie. Fords/Holdens, Eagles/Dockers, The Who/Led Zeppelin..?

He might not have any proof, but as far as he's concerned, his pod filter setup is good and brings him some extra power. Good for you.

If your panel filter is better than a pod you've tried, or you're just taking someone elses word for it, good for you, too.

Think whatever you like, but there's no point at all arguing about what's better.

I have a pod filter. It's an el cheapo from Supercheap Auto. it's attached to the hose that was originally attached to the panel filter. I've also built an MDF shield for it to try and keep hot air from it, and done some minor bodywork to try and get cold air to it. It probably does sweet F.A. for my power, but I don't care. I like the noise the car makes with my pod on. It sounds meatier than it did with the panel filter. I traded in the benefits or a panel, for the benefits of a pod.

There you are, I've probably embarrased myself explaining my pod setup, but the hell with it. I'm going to go one step further too..

The Who where better.

this has gotten a little personal hasn't it?

Laplace, Newton and Jacobian are all gathering right now to discuss the 'maths'

turns out, he's wrong.
