Chris I know about how dynos work, but it still aint as accurate as same day testing.
The rest is the good idea, but I still think you should try and get a few cams at least tested on the same day.

Same with the 1/4 mile...different days will probably affect the result a little.

Testing on the same day is even influenced a bit.
Heatsoak would be a player, a cam tested earlier in the day would have an advantage.

I know it isn't exactly feasible, cost wise, but to dyno run each cam twice, once on install, and once after a week of driving, would give 2 figures that would at least give an idea as to the accuracy of the dyno results.

1/4 times will be interesting, although again, temperature is going to play a role.
If weather conditions are documented when you do the run, that's about all you can do.
People can then see for themself "Oh, x cam was a tenth faster then y cam, but it was on a bit colder night" etc.

How much money are you looking at needing Chris?
I'd be down to fork out some money for this :D

well at the moment i have put 300 odd dollars towards it from selling stuff i have in the garage. It all comes down to dyno if i can get a discount or somethign i have to wait to hear. 2-3 of the cams i will need to buy myself and hp valve springs, 2 heads, 1 vernier cam gear. Then if i do the quarter runs that 45 bucks each time x 2 cause people want a auto Vs. manual.

As of yet cost is still a mystery.

Dave the rockers just fall off the back of a truck? Same day testing is s**t as outlined by steady ED, any one who lives in sydney will know that it still gets cold of the night/morning here and can be quite hot and humid during the day. Tickford 6 you have misinterpereted Spider in saying that running in roller cams isnt necessary. This is true in the sense that you must run in flat tappet cams as opposed to just dropping in a roller cam, however Spider is dead right in saying that it will take a couple of days for the ECU to addapt to each cam. DONT SAY BUT THE ECU RUNS IN OPEN LOOP AT WOT, cause any one who has even had any form of experience with AFPR's will tell you that even when you set A/R's they will revert back to a some what rich state after a short period. My understanding is that the ECU sets its WOT maps according to where the predetermined checkpoints are found running in closed loop mode. Dont make me go back through FM, TBF, FF, coral and prove you wrong about WOT and preset maps by arguing this point

Howdy. I have had a DEV3HL cam installed in my manual EF XR6. Before the cam modification it was punching out 130 rear wheel killowatts (replacement headers, hi flow cat and s/s exhaust). It's now making 149 rear wheel killowatts. I found that there kick in the rev range, just more power everywhere and the car felt stronger. The only downside to the cam is that ever since it was installed, the car stalls frequently, needing a blip on the throttle when stopping at the lights, which scares quite a few commodore owners in doing so.

could be timing i had a simliar thing when it wasnt timed right

Don't worry about dyno and 1/4 mile etc etc.. just put them in.. drive them around. Give us a review. I mean really... how could we ask for more than that. At the end of the day it's all subjective, so just give us your opinion :)
