Hi Guys,
Im seeking advise on an issue im having atm. The problem is power cuts out when driving with high beams on, including dash lights.it will then cut in and out until i put it back to low beam then its all good again. is this a voltage issue or a relay somewhere or any ideas as to what its likely to be? Hoping to get issue sorted as im taking off on a large trip in the next few weeks. Cheers Dan |

Have you checked the fuses? and also have you made sure the high beam light/power wire isnt touching anything metal around it managing to short it out? also have you done anything to the steering column of late? may have snagged the wire for the high beams

No i havent checked the fuses, would it still work intemittently with a blown fuse?
havent done anything to steering column and havent found anywhere that could be shorting out. |

It's the 30A circuit breaker that hangs at the end of the relay block, next to the battery. Replace it. If you have changed to higher wattage globes, change to 40A breaker (Narva pt # 54740BL) but you'll have the change the connector as the 40A breaker needs ring terminal lugs.

Theirs a relay under your water bottle Silver rectangle thing under the bonnet take the relay out and just joiun the wires together and you will never have that problem again its a common fault with them

I'd hazard a guess at your high beam switch being on its way out.
When you flick the switch forward can you jiggle it so your low beams can switch on or off whilst your high beams are on? Mine does that. When I have aftermarket (standard wattage though) globes in there they cut out as mentioned within about a minute of operation, but if I make sure the switch it pushed forward enough so that only high beams are on, then I don't get any light cut outs. At the end of the day, if you are using standard wattage globes then check your high beam/indicator switch assembly and also check for chaffed wires. If you are using higher wattage globes then change your circuit breaker and take it from there. |

i think im running Narva globes for memory, cant remember the details of them though.
and im pretty sure the arm doesnt have any play in it so im prob leaning towards the breaker. the strange thing is that all lights inside and out cut out when its doing it. anyway ill try a few things tomorrow and see how i go |

Ive been running mine without the relay for around two years and since removing it and just joined the wires together have not had any further problems

doesent always work kid faster and now reliable without it reason its their is to bugger up problem solved removed the problem when you get older you may understand

so that would be the same as mine i turn the light on the flick the high beam and all the lights cut out and none work

So if your engine is screwing up, do you remove it? I've met plenty of foolish 44 year olds mate, so don't get so chuffed about your age. |
