Gotta skim the head man.
Imagine where the heads been sittin on the gasket. And where it's blown out eaten away part of the head, would take less then a bees d**k of difference to cause a failure. Unfortunately looks like you'll be getting another head gasket and headbolts. Usually a machine shop will machine a 4 cyl for 40, 6 for 60, 8 for 80. Get it crack tested to be safe, don't wanna pull it apart again ay. |

i'm doing this now .getting the head milled and crack tested will be around the $90 mark

there not bad considering the motor has 3700000 + on it and it had the original head gasket on it. i'll get some pic of it

That's pretty much how mine looked except my number one piston was spotless because of the water leak.

i've had enough of this one anything that could go wrong has, example seized head bolt.needed to attack that one with the grinder
|

you can see where mine let go between 4 & 5 nice water and oil leak. if you had water going into the piston that's more than likely a cracked head
|

Is that the block after you've cleaned it? Cos it needs to be about 400% cleaner then that if so.

The gasket on mine was completly rooted so i put it down to the gasket and i had 4 seized bolts i had to cut off, all fun and games.

no haven't attack it yet...mmm just had an idea of how to clean it fast (more the case of seeing the end result of doing this) using a sanding disk
 . the machine shop i go to had a Toyota fj40(i think) land cruiser and the owner had clean off the old head gasket with a sanding disk

Bad idea.
A medium fibre pad on a wizer is the hardest I'd go. I use scotchbrite, kero, a square end scraper and some elbow grease. Maybe some 600gritt and a big sanding block if I feel like it. Figure 8s around the pistons, lol. |

I'd never use a sanding disk to clean the block ,i use good old razor blades gets the block clean every time. just seeing the Toyota made me laugh and think what some people do.

Good, thank god.
I've seen people with bad block corrosion weld in the corrosion and grind it back then wonder why it still leaks. |
