cheers

Yeah that is a lot unless you do a few thousand Ks a week.
How many Ks has the motor done ??? Does it run / idle OK ??? Sump plug / oil filter secured firmly ??? Any strange noises ??? Check compression ??? Check Spark Plugs for fouling ??? ( wet, oily - could mean faulty vave guides, rings etc. ) When the car is warmed up, let it idle a while, go to back of car and get someone else to give it a qick rev - any smoke ??? Also, sometimes the oil pressure sender unit can s""t itself and lose oil. Try running the engine until its totally warmed up and then park over a few sheets of Butcher paper placed under the car where the engine / trans would be. Leave for a while and if its leaking you should see it. If you're 100% certain its not leaking then unfortunately, its probably internal. Good Luck |

the motor has done 195000, i think the lifters are rattling, that is really bad at startup then still noticeable at operating temp, runs well, idles rough occasionally but has improves alot since cleaning air bypass valve on throttle body, need a more thourough cleaning i think, oil filter and sump plug are fine, engine has no oil leaks, yet to check plugs and compression and will have to check for smoke.
the previous owner poorly maintained it, when i got it 6 months ago it was on its 2nd head 3rd head gasket(including the one that came with the new head) 3rd radiator, 2nd header tank 2nd water pump and is about to get a new thermostat housing, and wan only serviced every 30 to 40000k so chances of it being somthing major are pretty high
