haha yer another topic... just a quick question

on one of my engines i need to put exhaust manifold back on it .. i have the bolts but 6 of them are short and 6 are long ? how do i know which ones go where ???

I forgot myself... easy way is to stick something narrow in the bolt holes, you should be able to see how deep all 12 are.

if they're all the same depth, then stacker them.

screw them in till they stop.... then check how thick the manifold is, and if the bolt sticks out too much its a short hole.....

thats what i would normally do... but the bolts are tight to start with and if i bolt them in i dont want to go threw to a waterhole or crack anything...

Mmm, lubrication is good for inserting things... I'd probably go with sliding a small rod or screwdriver to see what depth they all are before screwing in. Save a fair lot of effort too.
