Hey all, today I got a quote from fastfit, my local muffler mob. they quoted me for the following:

(fitted) 2 1/2 mild steel mandrel bent redback cat back with 2 straight thru high flow mufflers. originally quoted $365 but this increased to $475 due to IRS :(

$320 for 2 1/2 high flow cat (he said it was a high quality 1)

$617 for pacemaker comps + $88 fitting

or

$520 for standard pacemakers.

I told him I could get the extractors off ebay for cheaper and he said that was cool but he wouln't be resposnsible if I brought him the wrong 1's.

So my Question's are:

1. Is the exhaust price's quoted reasonable?
2. Has any1 dealt with this dealer or think its legit: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Ford-EA-EL-AU-BA ... dZViewItem
cause its a lot cheaper than what he's quoting.

Cheers

Cam.

$320 seems a bit excessive for a catalytic converter. i had mine replaced on my wagon i used to own (xr6) only a few months ago and it was $180 for 2.5 high flow.

should be able to get a full quality system fitted for $1000 give or take.

That's very very exy! I got pacey comps and 2 1/2" high flow cat converter supplied and installed down here for $640.00 over a year ago (and hi flow cat prices have reduced since tehn, and the paceys had to be brought over from the mainland!!!)!!!
$250.00 to $300.00 is more what you should be paying for an exhaust system, any of the off the shelf Redback and Lukey setups around this price. If it's being made up custom more. If it's having a fancy tip moreaswell.

get it raised while your at it. save yourself some dollars in the future if you lower your car or if its already lowered. won't bash muffler on every hump in the road

thanks for all those who replied, very helpful. When I get more time, i'll have to have a ring-around to see if I can score some better deals, Even if Its just getting the exhaust up and going to begin with i'd be happy. The guy said that the cat was expensive cause he only uses a particualr brand which he swears by, but I can't remember the exact make. Well, all further comments and advice would be appreciated, I live in the bulleen/templestowe area if any1 know's a good place. Well, i'm actually living in Mill park for the next week so epping ppl might no a good place too.

Cheers.

this is for your BA yeah? everyone i talked to says the twin cams are REALLY loud compared to the single cam engines. i have a triple flow lukey muffler and a resi at the back and it's still quite loud. but depends what your using the car for, ask if you can get one muffler in then see how it sounds, if it is too loud get then to put a resi in.

ok, I got another quote from mr. muffler: 1 word RIPOFF.

they quoted $700 for the reback cat back installed,
$800 for hitech headers (he said they were better than pacies cause they are s/s
$300 for high flow cat.

total: $1,800

He also recommended berkley exhaust cause apparently its the best in the market.

does ne1 know of a good exhaust shop in the melbourne area, preferably eastern/northern suburbs

someone is selling 2.5" 3" hi-flow cats on ebay at the moment for 135 bux.....but its not ss. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... %3AIT&rd=1

this cat is a magnaflow one....not sure if its good or not.

Fastfit Bulleen did a nice job for me a while back
They were not the cheapest price when I got quotes either but
I found them good to deal with and when I had a problem it was fixed it straight away no charge
