Hey,

I've just put a set of pacemaker 4499's on my car with a 2 1/2" mandrel bent exhaust, ultraflow lukey muffler and hotdog resonator and have noticed a noise when i get above around 3000rpm. It kinda sounds like a really small turbo...anyone have this same sound or know what it is?

I'm not exactly complaining about it but the poor falcon just can't back up the sound it's making with performance.

Ha ha my Xr6 when it revs over 3000rpm sounds like its supercharged  No joke it really does. But to give you some sort of reasurance, im guessing the new exhaust just needs to be worn in a little more, my XR had the same kind of wierd noises when the new exhuast was first put on, give it about 1000kms of normal drivng and you should find that the noise will change or go away completely. :)

But im only taking a guess here as to whether our problems were the same diff.

I've got the same set up, sept my hot dog is inbetween the high flow cat and muffler. And it's now dumped at the diff.
On the stock cam 3,000 is about were the motor starts to make it's power isn't it? So that would account for the change of noise.
I found my exhaust note changed when I changed cams to 1604. It also changed hen I changed from Lukey to Pacey Com extractors.

Thanks guys,

I suppose it really does sound more like a supercharger than a turbo. Also, it has a really tough worked V8 like backfire when i coast. Not exactly complaining about that either but i'd like to know if anyone has the same sound.

It doesn't sound like turbulence, more of a good sound than a bad one. I have a lot to do with air movement in my profession and it sounds like high velicity air.

On that note, i've gotta applaud Pacemaker on the build quality of the headers, not one rough or turbulent edge to be seen....sheer beauty.

Thanks again everyone for your input.

Yeah good choice. I got the tuned 4480's. Was tried to be convinced to buy lukeys then 4499's but i was like.. arr, no. Now just need to update the sports exhaust, sounds a little tinny when i really give it some.. could be the tip design.

Yeah i wanted the 4480's but the exhaust shop stuffed up my order....not happy. I was gonna go and complain but i've read they give flat spots. I'm pretty happy with them. Happy enough to not take them back!

I have the 4499 on my mtr & they are a big improvement over the stock ex manifold & only drop 2 rwk's over the JMM with same redback system on a stock mtr.
