Dude, of course mandrel bent extractors are going to be thinner.
Did you get a press bent exhaust too because it was more "reliable"?

That extra $300 could have easily gotten you another complete redback exhaust in 2 years time when the warranty runs out.

No the rest of the exhaust is mandrel bent. Including the Stainless rear section. However it's made from thicker pipe to begin with.

I don't want the hassle of having to put up with a noisy exhaust or something I didn't like or had to take back somewhere for repair + fitting costs after that 2 years.

This guy said he would change the custom middle section for free (plus the cost of any additional mufflers) untill I got the sound I wanted. Fortunately he got it right first time, that was the selling point in the end.

With the extractors the pacemakers were 1 year warranty and the lukeys 3years. If I really wanted that last 5% of performance I will upgrade later if I shoot for 180RwKw but right now it's just not worth it. Anyway with all the focus on madrel bends the pacemakers had tighter bends out of the head where the lukeys come out further with gentler bends. So a little from column A and a little from column B.

The prices I quoted there were general. If you can get a good deal on ceramic coated parts go for it!

He quoted $ 700 for the redback system. I believed my own eyes when I saw the rust on it (plus 2 others) and went for the stainless which ment I had to get the center section custom made.
I do alot of short trips in my car which really wears out the exhaust.

Personally i'd rather take an off the shelf system such as a redback anyday over a 'custom' system. Reason being is that the off the shelf system has obviously had a lot of R+D work put into it to ensure it's not too loud, bolts up correctly, flows well enough and doesn't hang too low that it scrapes on every speed bump.

With a custom system, you don't know how its gonna flow, sound or sit when it's all bolted up.

But like others have said, as long as your happy.

Agree. A supposed "Custom" system would cost a f**k more as well.
Are redbacks mild steel? I was under the impression they were 304 grade stainless, but hell, I have the worst memory.

I have had a Redback Sports exhaust for 3 years now which was also supplied and fitted by a reputable place - Parramatta Exhaust Centre in North Parramatta, and I have checked it and had got it checked regularly and have had NO SIGNS of Rusting or cracking whatsever.

Yeah it depends how you drive. If you always get your exhaust up to temperature all the water evaporates and no rust. However some times I make short trips or leave it undriven for a while. It also sits out in the rain so I wanted something more rust resistant.

The rear section is from the V8 - factory quality and fit! And the center section is almost straight. The new one does not hang any lower than the original. Everything was also painted with this thick black paint to prevent damage and rust -another thing redbacks don't have.

The point I was making with this thread was that previously ppl told me that it would cost 1000's to get a custom system when it's not much more and it offers considerably increased warranty, reliablity and you don't run the risk of not being happy with the sound.

The place is "Perfect Performance Exhaust" 1661 Dandenong Rd, Oakleigh. Ph 9563 1166. Speak to Trevor.

Yeah same here my Redback system was also coated in Black. Unless the Redback one you were shown was not an original one :?: :?:
