im not understanding the question here...... you asked if you should get exhaust or cam, but then later mentioned you already have a extractors & full exhaust.
....so... get the cam i guess forget about "lumpy" as you need a fairly big cam to get a lumpy idle in these falcons. Then you also need things like stronger valve springs, high compression, high stall, shorter diff gears, chip and custom tune to get the most out of it have a look though the Wade cams, and Crescent motorsport sponsor threads for ideas on which cam to get, then get back to us with your findings & any further queries |

Hey Skidder how come you would steer clear of EA-EB t5 conversions?

Mainly just the box because later boxes have better synchros (fibre v brass) and better bearings on the countershaft (tapered roller v straight roller) and under gears (needle v journal).

CMS stage 3 is far to big for a stock head.
Joe will tell you that himself. BenJ

I would go a CMS stage 3, even without headwork; his gear has got a pretty good wrap from those using it and even being held back by the head you will still get a good gain.

the cms 3 needs heavier valve springs minimum..
maybe try the stage 2 as this can be used on std springs.. i had the crow 22519 cam which is i think is there stage 3 and it worked fine on std springs.. it didnt give me the go i expected though.. |

Well, CMS recommend a stage 2 head minimum for use with the stage 3 cam, which will be around the 8 to 900 mark.
Oh, and without a manual transmission or a high stall convertor with an auto, it won't work well at all. BenJ

i reckon do it properly, no point getting half the results.
at least get some Crow XR valve springs, then pick a medium range cam like a CMS stg3 or a wade 977b for example. Then get a J3 chip and custom tune. When the headgasket goes, get some larger exhaust valves and machine the head plus use an AU gasket for more compression...... it all helps for the final results. in all honesty, i would save a bit more and get a 4.11LSD diff fitted..... with your car being auto, it really needs some better gearing to get it off the mark quicker. I think you will notice better results with a diff gear change, than another 20rwkw's |
