I Own An ED Fairmont with 2.5" Exhaust. Would a set of extractors help with kw increase and or fuel economy? My uncle owns a muffler shop and said not worth it.

Saying extractors aren't worth it is like saying it's not worth dumping 7.0L of V8 into your engine bay to get more power.
And saying they don't give better economy is like saying it's not worth it to put a 4cyl japanese lean burn engine in your engine bay for economy. I think extractors in the I6 generally give about 15Kw more power and 10% better economy.... although that's dependant on your driving style and if it changes after your new found power. If you continually tap into the extra power the extractors give you, you probably won't notice much difference in economy round town. If you do a lot of country driving, there will be a noticable increase in economy. |

hey i was in tumut a couple weeks ago. is your uncle's place across the road from an rsl and a pub? i think i saw a muffler place there. my band played in the pub.

mate have a look at the factory manifold whats this 6into1. its horrible imagine how much air speed exhaust gas from cyl1 will loose when its has to fight its way past all of the other cylinders. i reckon you go a set of pacemakers. i won regret it

is ur uncle retired as a muffler shoppy, sounds like he in the past times , todays period of sound and power u will find in ya echaust and extractors, Then the Head .

Hi i rekon it is worth it. i had the plain setup on my Ef futura. put on a set of pacemakers and a redback system and i think it so much better. sound wicked now ppl can hear comin down the road burning up the streets
 and i noticed its heaps better on fuel now. ( Only when i drive it normally) booting it around does like to suck up the juice,

Your uncle should be shot...
Extractors are great for the mid to high revs and even better if you plan to do some cam work.

Extractors definately make a difference in terms of economy and power increases - and different extractors effect how much difference you get and were you get it! |

Yeah i need some of that fuel ecconomy haha. I get about 350km to a full tank... currently unemployed...Dr. Phil would call me a moocher. My mates had a huge increase in power after exhaust and pacies were fitted. He didnt notice much of a saving on fuel though.

The ED Fairmont I had responded quite nicely to a full exhaust and extractor upgrade. Fuel economy esp on longer trips was better. Def worth the money. |

Have to agree with the fuel economy on the long trips. Plus I have the cheaper pacemakers PH4499 with redback system and even with them the overtaking on h/ways is much more reponsive. Proberly one of the cheapest mods for late fords for again of power. ghiaman |
