hey guys,
in the up coming months im keen to do some engine mods to my Ba Ford Falcon XR6.
1st, I want to put an SS Growler CAI :)
But my question to you is, i also want to put in a set of extractors and an exhaust system with it.
What would YOU get? how much would you be looking at paying? and whats the best way to go?

PS: i am on my P's, therefore, would i have any trouble with the law with regards to these modifications?

ANY help would be greatly appreciated! :D thanks!

extractors are illegal in qld mate, nothing wrong with induction mods are fine, get a 2.5 catback exhaust. that way you can just whack on extractors later. although I put mine on early. could be stuffed waiting haha

ok then well im in Queensland as well and ive always been under the impression that u cant directly touch anything that connects to the engine that will increase it in power.... also ur only allowed to have up to 200kw or something like that and the xr6's come like 180kw standard i think, so ud have to watch that it doesnt push the amount of power over either...

im looking at getting just a catback system done in the next couple of weeks or so and its gonna cost me $500 with the twin tip for a catback set up!! pretty sure where the big money comes in is the extractors :)

as long as everything looks stock and you don't draw attention to urs self you shouldn't have any issues, cam upgrade is a good one to do as you can't see it so theres no way to tell if its stock.

yeh true that... so if u put a massive air filter in that looks different they are gonna be sus about it xD
why do people leave the silver cases off when they get the new extractors?? is it just for looks?

and would someone please post some info about what cams are?? and what they do?

cheers

Yeah it is a great one to do considering how much it costs for B series....

I've got an AUII XR6 ute, and recently put a set of tiger headers/2.5" high flow metal cat/full 2.5" piping/straight through muffler and a nice 3" tip... im almost certain that its not illegal performance wise, though its bloody LOUD. also i am on my green p's... so yeah go exhaust, though like others have said it WILL draw attention. especially in a small community like mareeba...

search camshafts in wikipedia, they time the valves basically...

Just don't bother with the cams at all unless you like blowing money out your bumhole.

Intake/exhaust/under drives/tune.

When I say exhaust I mean a full exhaust...if you aren't getting headers not much point in doing a catback as will only draw attention to yourself for sfa gain.

Yep, sfa for SOHC engines.

B series have 2 cams and I don't think they do regrinds, plus I am fairly sure they lock the vct when they do them? I had a feeling they were over a grand for the cams...

Considering you can get a decent gain on the DOHC engines from full exhaust/tune (compared to SOHC engines) I wouldn't be spending the money on cams for a daily if I had to sacrifice the VCT.
