Thanks GeZza200, i had a set of extractors on my XF and never noticed a difference to other XFs, but maybe that was because it was on gas, wanna see if its worth putting a set on the EF [/quote]

Extractors do work..

With a normal exhaust manifold, all gasses being pumped out from the engine go into a single area... the engine then works to push extra gas into an already full area..to push the existing gasses out of it, meaning your engine is having to sacrafice power that could be going to the back wheels, to help force more exhaust gas out.

With extractors, gasses are passed into their own area first before joining up with the gasses coming from the other cylinders, this means a better free flow of exhaust gasses, which means your engine isn't working as hard to push exhaust gasses out, which means you have that extra power for your back wheels

So...in summary, less power wasted on pushing exhaust gasses out, means a little more at your back wheels, however... as with any modification, it works better in conjuction with other mods.

cool explanation, you should be a teacher or something, so im guessing the extractors affect your exhaust note as its more open.

Bout the noise side - mine cut out the grumbly sort of noise it had, made it smoother, and now that theyve worn in its louder and lower than before.
SS driver thought it had a V8 and wanted to race. Dunno if thats good or what, commo drivers arent that bright..

If youve got money to burn (waste?) get the JMM or pacey 4480 headers because they cost heaps and therefore must be the best......

Or you can go cheaper and find theres f**k-all difference between competition & cheapy headers.

Mine are Motivator brand and only cost $300, and make good power and still in one piece after a few years lol. Others have said good things about this brand too.......
