But you would be best to go to a wreckers first and get one like TROYMANS from an AU Falcon, and ask them to fit it while fitting the extractors. As they are made out of a flexible material, and can be manipulated fit around the extractors nicely. Not sure what EL heat shields are like, they may be OK for the job too. EF/EL are not flexible like the AU's. the best ones are the au2 or au3.. they are easier to mould and bend... the earlier ones have a fiber type layer between two layers of metal and the fibre falls apart when it is bent,,, |

EF/EL are flexible enough to fit over 4499s or similar, you've only really got to bend the mounting tabs a touch, but yeh the later AU series are better.

ok so i just went and had a look at the ED wagon outback because the bonnet was up and theres no heatsheild on it at all ahaha, so i got the keys for the ED sedan and checked it out. thought the heatshield screwed in on the top like it did on the bottom, havent seen many cars that use the actual header mounting bolts to hold the heatshield aswell. looks like i was wrong, but you learn something everyday.

I have used a BA heatsheild and you can see none of the extractors, also is ridgid and self supporting from the bolts mounting the extractors.

Ok well, ill go see if i can grab an AU/BA one, if i cant it will have to be a stock GLI one, would that be ok?

Ok well i just dropped my car off for the extractors, asked the guy there if he could put the std heat shield back over the new ones and him being an import, i could not understand anything he said. I have to call again at 9a.m to confirm what im getting before they start work as the General Manager wasn't there.
