I was reading this thing about the EB and ED XR6's and FORD tryed extractors on them and found the power gains wernt worth the hassel and in some cases didnt run as good as standerd headers wats tha most kw any one has gained from extractors

to me personally, extractors need a cam and large exhuast to really work to there max.

i think its safe to say that ford extractors are s**t really, very restrictive and ugly.
i can garantie you that a good set of extractors with a 2.5' cat back will give you anywhere from 10-15rwkw possibly even more, keeping in mind that your cat is in good condition. the question is are you willing to spend $1000 for 15rwkw???

Its about the only way to spice your falcon up a bit other than going forced which is gonna cost u alot more. Extractors, 2.5 hiflo cat to a 2.5 mandrel bent exhaust and a cam will set u back installed about 1400ish and certainly makes it alot more fun to drive.

extractors are not going to turn a car into a rocket, but they are the starting point for the usual NA mods that we all do... you should get away with $1000 supplied and fitted for good headers, hi flow cat and 2.5" sports system....

It would go even better if you got some decent extractors

i think maybe what you're talking about is that often extractors and big exhausts don't produce as much low down torque as the standard setup extractors and big exhausts will produce more power and torque at higher revs than the standard seup |

if the extractors have smaller primarys it will give that extra torque down low though

low down torque is wat you want unless you are racing

...i only noticed some power gain after putting in pacemakers 4480s with a hi flow cat. (already have the 2.5" cat back exhaust).
i reckon i gained about...5-10kws? give or take compared to the standard exhaust ugly manifold. If you plan on putting a cam in, in the future, best bet is to invest in the extractors. Going to need more breathing space. If you have a manual...it doesn't really matter about low down torque IMO because you already have the good 1st gear ratio. But if you want more low down torque, then I agree with Gezza. Hitek extractors have smaller primaries then pacemakers 4480s (competition). phong =P~

I'm getting some shortly, so I'll be able to tell you if you can feel a difference or not. When I got my cat back (2.5" Lukey, mandrel bent, 1 box), it was obvious that it could rev out quicker than before, but I dont kno if this corresponds to much of a power increase. Probably a few kw's at the wheels.
I've got a manual, but no LSD, so I struggle for traction throughout 1st, and 2nd when running towards the redline. As phongus said above, you dont really miss any low down torque loss in a manual, first only does like 50-60k's anyway. |
