I'm looking into buying an FG F6 Sedan. I currently own a 2008 FG XR8 Ute, but I don't put anything in the back, and it's not really practical... I love V8's, but the Ford V8's are too slow and cost too much money to make them go fast.

I went into the local Ford dealership here and they said they've got a 2009 6spd manual FG F6 with 3,000kms coming next week for 55 grand and if I trade my ute, they will give me 35 grand trade-in for ute. The only thing really holding me back is the colour of the F6 is dark blue, and I'm not too sure on that colour... but for that price, I'm not sure if I should be fussy about it. I've called all the dealerships in the south and none have any F6's under 66 grand.

Also, I have not yet driven an F6, and I don't know anyone who even owns one, but are they REALLY all they're cracked up to be? They have a pretty freaking decent reputation for being fast, will it knock my socks off? I know you will all say to take it for a test drive, but I can't exactly wind one out down the main road here :P

I'm stumped! I want one, but is it REALLY worth that price?

Well i always wanted to know how much better an F6 would go over my BA turbo and the question was answered when i drove my mates BF F6 recently. The F6 hammers. The FG being a newer car with another 40 kws and newer technology would sure to impress much more.

Buy a nitrous kit for the 8 and have the best of both worlds, V8 noise, and a chemical supercharger when you need it.....the mod motors love force feed charge.....and for 20k changeover, its alot of go for the 8 if you spent it there...

Thanks guys. ELGT - The car upgrade would be through finance, so putting a nos kit through the eight isn't really an option. If I could afford a blower, then I would! Plus I'd like a sedan.

Mate, a gas kit is only around the $1000 mark, a damn sight less than fees and bloody bank charges...

If you have never been in a car on N20 try it first, its freakin amazing, and best of all, its stock at all other times when not in use, turn it on, and instant (in my car 200hp) power increase....

The FG F6 6 speed is a sweet car.
My mates F6 went on the rollers at a dyno day.
Stock with 8,000km on the clock and it pulled 287rwkw.

To those recommending NOS, that's just stupid. You can't use it on the road, and depending on the state you're in you can't even have it fitted to the engine (NSW I think is the most leanient where you can have it all installed, but the bottle must be physically disconnected). So you can only use it at the drags, and in most states, only on a trailer queen. (can't have it in your daily).

You CAN make use of a turbo or blower whenever you want.

@OP, get a drive in a new XR6T first (if the dealer doesn't have a F6 to try), it's a very different drive to the V8s, you may not like it, you may love it, but you will miss the exhaust note.

That's not that out of the ordinary. General opinion is FPV have underrated them significantly.

Even new stock '315' GT's are putting down more than the new '325' HSVs.

It's actually 23kw, and Ford's 310kw rating is bull, it's more than 310kw!
