Does it just die, or does it splutter/cough before it's demise?
If it just drops dead while driving or under heavy load, it could be your coil or TFI module. Coils can just die under load or over heated...usually mainly overheating. TFI modules just die with water/moisture...and with recent rain...wouldn't have helped the cause. You didn't happen to drive through any puddles of water before this incident?

Yeah it dies whilst driving, then wont start until its cooled down or sometimes straight after it dies.... It has water still while its hot but wont start until it cools down...

I still may think it's ingition related. Has happened to me, car would just die and sit there, give it a minute or so and it will start again. Then had a spluttering under acceleration and sometimes the car would miss while cruising. Changed over the TFI and didn't have any issues until the coil was found to be dead.
However could be anything else really...leads or fuel related. Loose wires can cause a lot of dramas.

Is it normal for the bottom radiator hose to have a steel coil or spring inside it????

Its funny i have found this thread as it is currently happening to my EF Fairmont. The other day turned the car on, came out of the street (while on gas) and the car just died. Ever since, even on petrol, the car will either take 4 -5 seconds on clicking over to actually start, start on petrol or wont start at all. While on gas, it will start and run really bad with revs dropping below 1k and then cut out.
With the TFI module and fuel pump, is this something i can change? or will i have to go somewhere? what price am i looking at as well? Sorry for jumping this thread as well i just didnt want to have to start a new one cheers daniel |
