Has anyone put a 5 speed in a el fairmont ghia.
I am trying firgure out which wires to place the resistors. The wire colours dont marry up with wiring diagram in my workshop manual. I have looked through voxace install guide and no joy there. Any help would be great. |

Using a workshop manual or some sort of wiring diagram for the EL, you can identify which wires are solenoid wires for the autobox. These wires are not used for the manual conversion
After you isolate these possibilties, theres only a couple wires left for the resistor mod. With my conversion, voxaces guide had called for Purple/Green strip wire to go to the 6.8 resistor. The plug didnt have the wire so i used a Green/Purple strip wire instead. This caused the idle to rev hang real bad. Looking through a wiring diagram for the auto loom, i found it was actually a solenoid wire i had used and so were the rest of the wires except for a mysterious Pink/Green strip wire coming out of the plug that wasnt mentioned in the wiring diagram or voxaces guide. I used this one instead and idle was perfect at 750 rpm's |

So if I can eliminate the solenod wires do you know if the
wires that are left will be oil temp & gear select(going off my wiring diagram). Thanks for the info. |

Thank you for the diagram I can probably sort it all out.
Wire colours seem to be the same. |
