Sell it and buy a Ford.

On a serious note: Exhaust, exrractors, filter, spark plugs, leeds and a bit of weight reduction. Would be good and very affordable.

i am currently rebuilding my MK1 esky 1300 motor to the 1300GT specs of 1972 should have around 120 - 130 BHP at the fly wheel when finished ( but mine will have a modified head because they are absolut s**t to find original heads ) but its like any motor keep enough fuel to it and spark and it will rev to what ever you want ... my last setup used to rev to 7850 rpm before detonation and made plenty of power doing it ( for a 710kg car that is ) 105 BHP.. :P :P :P :P :P :P

if you do it right you can take about 30kg out of each door.
if it's a 2 door you can get about 50kg out of each one.

but seriously buy that cam of me get some good valve srings and the 4 into 1 pacemakers with 2 1/4 exhaust and you'll beat most of the 2L ones

what do you mean change every thing for a 2L??????????

you don't have to change any thing but the engine, the exhaust, and the clutch cable

the gear box is the same, the bell housing is the same, the engine mounts are the same, the brakes are the same and the suspension is the same.
most of the wiring is the same

it's a weekend job to do. the only thing you have to look out for is the sump. a cortina sump will not fit an escort

Anything is possible.
Removal of spare and running on low fuel. That'l drop 30kg.

when i was speaking to my dad and his mate they recon that its not worth it. and it doesnt run quite the same with a new engine... i dont really wanna change the complete engine till i get another car anyway....

dude i've done it my self it's not hard at all..

i've playing with escorts for years built some fast ones, broken some fast ones too.

but really there is no point in trying to make the 1600 go fast unless your going to go full on with it.

you'll strugle to get any more then 140hp@FW with a 1600 unless you start getting parts over from the UK.

with a 2L you'll start with 100hp. the bigger of the 2 crow cams, pacemaker comp extracotrs 2.5 inch exhaust and $1000 for the head= bigger valves and mild port work, with a single 45mm webber.
will see you around 150hp (will beat just about any stock auto 6cyl falcon)
for less then the cost of making the 1600 go faster

well to get 160hp from the 1600 your looking at over $8000.because to get it you'll be running over 8000rpm. for that you need all steel crank and rods.

to get 160hp from a 2L your looking at maybe $4000 and it can be done on factory internals and streatable cam unlike the 1600

for the $8000 you would spend on a 1600 to get 160hp you could spend that on a 2L and get about 230hp, then you would be giving alot of V8s a very big scare

escort with that much power and some weight reduction (loose about 120kg from the doors and perspex windows is around 10kg take out all of the sound proffing on the floor about 30kg )

would be very fast

then again for that $8000 you could put a turbo on the 2L and be getting around 300hp (limmit of factory rods) with some H-beam rods you could get around 450hp.

i have some specs around here some where for a 550hp pinto

if i had 8k i wouldn't waste it on one of those f**k.ing things

i'd be getting a BDT you'll get more power out a BDT than an SR20 could even dream of

and that way you keep it all ford.
