its a 1976 ford escort ghia.. when i brought it it had a little bit of work done to it.

- extractors
- bigger valves
- down draft webber carby
- small exhauts (not sure what size)
- small cam
- its been converted to unleaded which is usefull.. nothing to do with what im talking about though...

its had some other stuff done to it too.. cant think of it off the top of my head..

i was thinking about getting side draft webbers. but to find a manifold for a kent motor is near impossible. then u got the complications of finding the webbers..

i spose seeing as its a old motor it has its limitations.. havent blown it up yet. so i dunno what those limits are lol.

im not an expert on cars either. so any advice would be great!!

I used to own a 93 Charade and blew the 1.3 and installed a import 1.6 and it was fun due to the fact it blew standard Vn 5.0 and was standard with only a full exhaust set-up and 90hp at the wheels 830kg

They came out with 1.3,1.6,2.0 ive owned 5 of the little buggers apprantly the Pinto engine gets the things cranking.

Also ive got a sidedraft 45mm with manifold iit just needs a couple of things but it will bolt straight up.

i'll see if a friend of mine still has the twin weber setup he had on his old escort, i'm pretty sure it's up for sale
failing that, how about some of the lotus/cosworth stuff?

If you can afford it as your only 17 & I gather not to much work history to save a lot of money unless mum or dad helps. I would go for the 2 litre ohc mtrs as they went very well and in their days were unbeatable in ralley's and belted anything near their class. There is one problem with escorts as I hardly have seen one without rust in the plenum chambers. Have to cut the bulk head to repair the rust underneath it.

You can get 1300/1600 escorts stonking. My first car was an auto 1300, I got a sport exhaust, a twin throat weber (the standard 2.0 one) rejetted for the motor and a warm cam. It was way fast enough for me (got some great photo's of me doing lineys way back then) :) Have a look at the formula ford websites and the rally car sites too. You should find some good escort engine power tips there.

if you want a bigger cam i have one for sale.
