This may be a little long winded, I'm just trying to include as much relevant information as possible.
This is going to be a thread on the problems and the costs I encountered whilst doing this mod myself. Basically, I started off by getting the FG intake manifold, and FG throttle body + throttle body wiring, which cost me $275 from Grant Walkers. Quick side note, make sure you get the wiring from a FG Petrol engine, as the early fg's on gas still ran the BA/F engine, hence the wiring would be useless If the FG Throttle body doesn't work as planned with the BA/F ecu, the second option would be to get an adapter plate made up so I can fit the BA/F throttle body to the FG manifold, as the bolt pattern for the BA/F throttle body compared to an FG throttle body are different. I also labelled all the injector plugs and other wiring plugs, because unfortunately you DO have to undo a lot of wiring to get the manifold out. I ended up undoing the ecu plugs and feeding the wires down through the manifold. It would also be smart to take a photo, or mark where each vacuum line goes. I didn't, and I regret that The brackets that held on the old manifold are also useless now, so undo them completely and put them to the side, they just get in the way. I have test fitted it to make sure it absolutely fits in the area. I did have to bend the metal coolant line running from the front to the rear, so the manifold bolt holes would match up, but from research on similar projects, you can fit the coolant line from an fg onto the ba/f motor. You will also have to source the fg intake manifold bolts, as they are longer. Which I still need to do. Now would be a good time to get out the good old paint and give that plain rocker cover the colour it deserves, haha. Though I ran out of spray paint in that picture :/ I fitted the throttle body to the manifold to see how long I would have to extend the wiring. Luckily enough, with the amount of wiring I got from the plug that I had sent down, I didn't need to add any more :] Though I did have to extend the wiring that goes up to the mass sensor by about 15cm or more. I'm currently hoping that it will run off the FG mass sensor i got with the manifold, though the BA/F sensor does fit into the same place up the top, though the plug is differen't. Tomorrow I will be sourcing an FG fuel rail and those manifold bolts. The FG fuel rail has different mounting points onto the manifold as the BA/F one, so it would be wise to get one. Questions are welcome :] |

Nice mate.
I've just purchased the manifold, throttle body and also the coolant line for $275 from FTG. Waiting for it to arrive. Some quick pointers. The wiring is the same for the Mass sensor, just different plugs. Simply use the BA plug, and solder in the wires (colour coded, can't go wrong).

Yes, I knew the wiring was the same, just the plug is different. I got the FG mass sensor free with the manifold though, and the plug (for some reason) was given to me with the throttle body wiring. Otherwise I would have just done what you suggested :]

Fair enough lol
I'm waiting to see what actually comes with my manifold. Hopefully the manifold bolts are with it... I don't want to go buy them from Fraud at triple the price lol I want it on by end of the week. How long did it take for you to get the old manifold off, and then the new one on and working 100%? I've been told it should take 2-3 hours at most, if I don't run into any hassles.

It took me a while, as I didn't have a 'I should do this first' list, so it was a bit unorganized
The new one went on quickly, I've spent an hour on it so far. Unfortunately as I don't have the bolts or fuel rail, I can't start the car So I don't know if it works 100%. Hopefully after tomorrow I can tell you how successful I was :] |

What is the perceived benefit of this mod?

Well according to a thread in Fordforums.com, it gives decent power gains.
Here's the link to his build {DESCRIPTION} |

20rwkw gain is nothing to sneeze at, hence why I ordered in the manifold too lol
Didn't think you had to run the FG Fuel Rail?

Exactly, and me being on my P plates, this is a perfect N/A mod :]
And I just don't see how I could support the BA/F fuel rail on the FG manifold, the mounting points don't match up. |

Well that's something I would of liked to of known before lol

Hmmm, do you think I could run Vapour Injected LPG with one of these manifolds?
Is there anywhere around the ports that appear may accept a brass nozzle? I would like to have this as an N/A enhancement option for the DOHC in my EB. Cheers BenJ

The nozzles/injectors get fitted straight into the runners just like any other car with a plastic manifold. Like this mazda Bravo. |

So, i've got the fuel rail coming down today.
Unfortunately, the bolts for the manifold are on order, won't be getting them until tomorrow :/ Anyone with an FG, is it true that they have 10 bolts and 2 studs for the manifold? Hopefully I can still get the car started tonight for a test run... :/ |

Surly you could just order 12 bolts...
