Hey everyone,
so I have a 2008 FG xr6, has done approx. 262,000km (country and highway). Has been running great, have owned it for 2 years in June. I must admit, I am pretty slack and only had 2 or 3 oil changes in that time. In Jan 2016, it started to have a very rough idle- the whole shakes. I took it for a service, did the usual. However, mechanic couldn't find issue- thought maybe plugs or injectors. So far, I have replaced plugs, replaced the injectors, replaced the inlet manifold gasket, changed throttle body and air flow sensor. Nothing has helped. the car stutters and shakes at anything below 800RPM. it even stalls when the revs drop below 500rpm. Another mechanic has suggested a slipped timing chain, or perhaps the O2 sensor is clogged/dirty. Any advice would help immensely! |

When was the last time the coils were changed?
When was the 02 sensor changed last? |

I actually have no idea if the o2 sensor has ever been changed- not since I've had it, nor have I changed the coils. However, the coils have been tested- they were fine.
Another friend who is a mechanic believes the exhaust valve may be stuck? |

o2 Sensors last about 90,000km. Coils around 100,000km.

Is that common for them to get clogged up, on a standard non turbo?

Common on all cars. O2 sensors have a use by time and it is around the 90,000km mark.

Thanks for the info... would you happen to know where they are located?
I was told under the rocker cover, near the cams? |

Mounted in the Exhaust, should be one before the cat and one after.

I am a "she" , and that's what one mechanic suggested, a timing chain issue. He thinks it sounds like the car is trying to find the right revs.
Plus, my fuel consumption hasn't changed, which the o2 sensor would affect am i right? |

Feels bad sorry about that Amm i have heard a few of the xr6 turbo guys skipping teeth are you hard on the car? Ya 02 if its bad would defiantly put fuel consumption down I'm on timming chain coils or injector or pump But while on the topic does anyone know what these obd2 connectors are like any software that the op she could use with her android phone etx to view errors? As its only a simple $5 cable the computer might throw her a code and help us out any knowledge on the subject anyone? |

Had the injectors replaced- no difference. Will definitely check out the timing chain over the weekend. Which Pump? barraea wrote: reilly wrote: I am a "she" , and that's what one mechanic suggested, a timing chain issue.
