looking the goods!

i wanna get my chromed, but wouldnt have a clue where to go.

Goto a truck wheel polishing joint, they also do re-chroming for them when they cant just polish it out.

Theres a place in Sunshine, but its a decent drive from Bayswater, theres also a place in Airport West that I got 12 slotters re-chromed at. Once again, decent drive from Bayswater.

as i got mine sand blasted you could see EVERY little imperfection from the factory mould, but makes it ALOT easier to do then sanding

Nice work!

I sprayed a few of my previous cars. I agree that paint stipper is the easiest way to clean it up.

It's a pity you cant get any really nice paint in the VHT or other high-temp stuff. It'd be really nice to see a deep metalic color or something.

I also reccomend finishing the job with a few coats of high-temp clear coat to protect it from chipping. That really piffed me off last time, it looked great until a week later when I got a big scratch in the middle.

While I'm against rice, I dont think painting your rocker cover is rice so heres a useful tip -

When you have lettering or ribs or something you dont want any paint on, after prepping the surface for painting, dab a tiny bit of engine oil on your finger and rub it onto the areas you dont want the paint to adhere to.

When it dries, the paint will lift off just by rubbing it gently with a cloth.

I like red, it's so different.

As for chroming, i'd rather have it polished and keep polishing every now and then, if you think your cover gets hot now, wait till you chrome it... Bad s**t for heat.

it dosnt have the paint layer to help keep heat in, its like sitting on a hot metal bench seat VS. a bonnet of a car (or boot)
