yer it would make sense if ur using a tip-tronic auto or a quick shifter, but even if ur doing burn out with an auto its not much use. wats the point? but hay as some one else said it adds another 20 hp.. and you get some street cred with the ricey's!!!!!!!!

i don't either

just a thought tho a shift light would be killer with a ba sss shifter but only get it to light up when you shift manualy

to all you guys asking why.

put your auto into first, actually slot it down into first. Now see if it will change gears by itself

If he is manual shifting his auto and instead of staring at the tacho while accelerating hardly, he may want a light to tell him when to click second instead of taking his eyes off the road... anyone thought of that???

everytime one of thse shift light threads get posted, the rice nazis come out in force with your all so professional opinions. i dont thing this bloke gives a f**k about your opinions on this light, or he would have posted 'hey, im putting in a shift light, what do you all think???" He asked how to install it... give em a break.

apparantly if you do something to your car that at least 50% of the forums population hasnt done and its even remotely different. Its rice....

and also hate to tell all you professionals that the BA SSS shifter, when put into sequential mode, if you dont flick it into second gear, it does it itself.

Check the thread that was linked up before mate, it will tell you how to wire em up. i think you just tap one of the cluster wires.

I dont know if anyone elses autos are like this, but with mine, if left in D it wont rev till the limiter, and my car pulls all the way to the limiter, so if I drag someone, ill manually shift. And also with the ford autos, their is a slight delay with gear changes, even with a shift kit. It all depends on how hard ur foot is down. Now with a shift light, if u set it at say, 5,500rpm, and you click second as soon as that light goes off, chances are you'll go into second at exactly 6,000rpm, instead of bouncing off the limtier a few times, which can lose you a race. Thats the point of having em. I've seen many auto cars with them.

mrnasty is completely right.

If you manual shift an auto to win races then you need a shift light to change before the car hits redline. Unless your a wannabe racer than you just rev the guts out of your motors and pop the valves while your at it.

But then again you all will probably call my car rice because it has an aftermarket computer, no ISC, Shift light, dual 3" exhaust and soon to be installed twin turbos.

But then again i couldn't care less, as it's my car and its fun to drive.

Give the guy a break.

Oh, and mate look at the thread Stockstandard posted it is helpful

Tap into the tacho signal wire in the back of the instrument cluster. It's pink with a dark blue stripe.
