Jack the car up, remove tail shaft, (keep the gearbox end in if you can to prevent spillage)
remove inspection plate, undo the 4 bolts on the torque converter by slowly undoing them in a cross pattern. undo all the wires to the tranny, undo the selector bolt. place a jack under the tranny, undo all the bell housing bolts. Remove the exhaust support bracket, undo the rear engine mount bolts (gearbox mount). use a scissor jack and or something like to support the engine from tilting too far or to help you remove the box. --------- All ef sensors. I used the EF temp sensor *ignored the AU one on the back of the head* I used the AU knock sensor and Alternator.

ok so we can easily remove the bellhousing bolts. so to get to the torque converter we need to get through the inspection plate?.. thats the bit we are finding tricky..

also this may seem silly but why do we remove the tailshaft?

I find it easier to remove the box completely rather than have it dangling there for an engine swap.

Only 3 things need modifiying i done this last week. I'll give you a run down on what I did. The sump as per the previous photos, put all ef shiz on oh and got rid of au a/c cast alloy bracket and engine mounts... leave the au knock sensor and alt. The plug on knock sensor needs to be changed and the cam angle sensor bracket also as au blocks dont have the hole at the front. Bit tedious but easily done use old engine as a guide as it has the same hole as au also. then plug plumb and play...
