what i dont get is, why go through all that trouble? y not get a custom plenum made or one from plazmaman, it would be stronger and would probably give u a higher power output capability, better than the fg one, made from that plastic composite stuff.....
uve obviously spent a couple $$$ to get it to run 13.4 down the quater NON TURBO, and obviously u know a bit about them too, to be able to open it up enough to get it to run 13.4, BUT, just sorta seems like ur going backwards putting the fg intake manifold on.... i really cant see any positive outcome from doing it, besides the T/B opening facing the other way.. think about it, ur replacing a cast metal manifold for a cast plastic one... last i heard, plastic was weaker than metal... just saying... i need to understand this... enlighten me |

thats fair enough, but is it really worth all the hassle, is there power increase just by slapping it on.. seeing as though it runs 13.4 down the quater, its had a bit of work done to it, wouldnt a plazmaman plenum be the way to go??

pretty sure there is a power increase of around 20kw once tuned properly.

From other sources that have done the FG manifold onto the B Series, is that it can give up too 20rwkw when tuned (which is nothing to sneeze at for less than $500 on parts second hand).
Apparently you can use the FG throttle body, just requires you to redo some of the wiring to the required plugs. IIRC it's as simple as cutting 2 wires, splitting them and then soldering individually.

that seems ok then i spose if its an extra 20kw at the tyres, wouldn't mind seeing dyno graphs though to back it up, just seems like fitting a plazmaman plenum would be they way to go with the mods hes already done to the car, would be easier to install and give a higher output capability better than the fg one...

Price wise, it's a lot cheaper. I got an entire FG manifold with TB but minus the fuel rail for $250. Fuel rail for an extra $100 (probably less). Then it's about 2-3 hours of install if you're slow. Also, not sure if the plazmaman will fit with a growler, and if not, you lose that so you'd also have to buy another air intake to suit the new plenum. It's the cheaper of the options, and it's very viable.
There's proof from the guy that I got the info from, I just can't remember where the thread is (pretty certain it's AFF).

I fail to understand the benifet of this, the FG throttle body is a bit smaller than a BF one I beleve, so how's it going to get more power?

so u get about 8 rwkw gain from slapping it on, and 20 rwkw with a good tune... so its not 20 rwkw gain for less than $500, a custom tune is usually between $500 and $1000, depending on where u go, and if u read that guys thread, it looks like there was a bit involved, custom brackets he had to make, and a bit of other fidly stuff... i dont think its worth the hassle for 8 rwkw.... u wouldnt even notice a difference, but for 20 rwkw its worth the effort i spose. Realistically including parts and a tune it'd cost about $1000 - $1500 to get it up and running with the 20 rwkw gain... not $500
