Penrite stopped making my Corrosive Inhibitor Concentrate, so today I've had to flush my cooling system, and I put in the Tectalloy Gold Concentrate.
The only way I could flush it it through the smaller heater hose which is attached above the fatter heater hose. You know the one? A s**t load came out, but I can only get 7 liters back in. I ran the engine to operating temp, but the water in the overflow res stays cool, after running the car for 5 minutes I can still stick my finger in the over flow res. Will this work itself out, or will I have a car with no head gasket left in the morning |

Kit. I predict option B:
B) = You will have a car with no head gastket in the morning. Thats what Murphys (not greg) rule says. I would be carefull about radiators. Hows the temp gauge?

Kit, idle the car for 15 to 20 mins with the A/C on and the heat up to full and the fan on high, this will allow the coolant to flow through the heater box. Keep an eye on the level at the resivoir tank, the car will continue to "burp" itself until all the air is out.

Temp guage was very cool.
I drained the radiator by taking the drain cap out. Put it back in. Flushed the sucker via the small heater hose for about 15 minutes in total. I blocked the heater pipe and made the overflow res overflow 3 times, and by the end the water was 99.9% clear. Re-connected heater hose, put in concentrate, and 4 liters of deminned water. Overflow was full. Started car after a while, set heater to 32. Then overflow drained completely, put another 3.5 liters in, but thats it. After five minutes the radiator hose was hot, water in the res was cool, temp gauage read very cool. My guess is 4 liters of tap water collected in rad core during flushing. And water in res tank was cool to the touch because the thermo had still not opened yet, just my guess? Hows that sound? |

Brett with your engine running around 2000 revs ...

check thermostat as well ou could even pull it out and make sure coolant flows around then, thermostat could be jammed shut.

Agree, and after that, if the coolant in the header tank is still cold then chances are your thermostat is f**k.

Hold on, if the water in your reserve tank is cold, then obviously its just not being cycled through the engine... why?.. becuase its an overflow tank... the water doesn't flow through the tank, the radiator just uses it for extra water when running low, and for the expansion and contraction of water. So it wouldn't get hot unless the engine was running quite a bit.
I wouldn't say you've got a problem... if the engine is heating up correctly via the temp guage, and maintains roughly in the mid section then you have nothing to worry about.

Your absolutely correct.
Damn Penrite for disscontinueing the coolant concentrate I was using! I thought they were the best so I was using the best. Now I have to stick with Tectalloy Gold. When Tectalloy says on the bottle, 1 litre makes up 15 litres. Do I add it to 14 litres to make up 15. Or add it to 15 litres? |

I had the same thing happen, its no biggy, add the whole bottle, you do have 15 litres in there, the rest of the water is in the block.
