Hi everyone

My heater tube into the water pump is leaking, just out of curiosity can I delete it all, and bung the holes on both ends.

I’ve read on the forum that it is also a by pass for the closed thermostat.

Can you drill a hole in the thermostat like you did in the old days so your gas converter wouldn’t freeze.

Thanks

my understanding is no as it's needed to circulate coolant. not 100% on that tho & may be proved wrong.

What I've done in the past is, removed the exhaust manifold, and CUT that pipe, cut the end off another one and joined it with rubber hose, but what you've gotta remember is it gets pretty warm there so just keep an eye on it, was ok on my mate's car though. Alternatively I've seen people fit AN fittings into the back of those water pumps. You CAN change that pipe while it's in the car, but it's a bit of a pain.
