Hi everybody,
Took my EL to the car wash today, gave the engine bay a niiiiice clean. Usually my EF's never die when I keep the revs up, but my EL (just like my older one I had) started spluttering, and the died out. Anyways, started back up when i dried up the spark plugs and took it home with the car spluttering and stalling occasionally. I change the spark plugs, cleaned the spark leads and gave the car a crank. It started, but coughed and spluttered and died out. Never started again (it cranks but doesnt fire). Here is my diagnostics I done. - tried two sets of plugs. (Running an AU1 XR6 engine so same plugs al EL Xr6 right?) -pulled out spark plug, put screwdriver in spark lead, put it next to the engine, cranked the car and watched for no spark. - sniffed inside the empty spark plug hole, shoved screwdriver in there and confirmed car is getting fuel. (Fuel pump primes too) - put spare plug in lead, rested it ontop of the engine, cranked the car and watched for no spark again - took out dizzy cap, rotor button, inspected for wetness, wiped away the few drops of water and put it all back together. Cranked the engine, again no spark. - changed the spark lead from ignition coil to dizzy, again no spark. - shoved a spark plug into the spark lead coming from ignition coil, again no spark. I don't know what else to do. Last edited by ahmedkayihan on Mon Mar 30, 2015 2:03 am, edited 1 time in total. |

Check the ECU Relay in front of the Header Tank.

I'm looking at a whole bunch of them right now,
There are 3 under the header tank, two are fuel pump relays (green and brown). Both work fine, dunno the third white one. Another set near the battery (the labelled ones with the main fuse 100A. They are all in good condition), all work well Is there another set I have missed? |

I don't know, how can I test it? I don't even know what it is for

There arn't 2 Fuel Pump relays, one is fuel pump, the other is the ECU.
Closest to the engine is the ECU Relay, next is the Fuel Pump and the white one is the WAC Relay. |

Likely dead coil or tfi module on side of dizzy.

Ahk. What happened was when I took turns pulling out the green and brown relays, both times the fuel pump didn't work. Thats why I thought they're both fuel pump relays. No I know thanks for that.
So, how would I go about "checking" them? They seem to work because I pulled them our and realised a difference. So, white one and ECU relay is what I'm looking at now... What shall I do? |

ECU activates the Fuel Pump Relay. When you pull the ECU Relay there is no power to the ECU. therfore no power to activate the Fuel Pump Relay.

Fuel pump works, because I can hear it priming. And I can smell fuel in the cylinders after cranking a Fe tines
There's no spark coming to the spark plugs = ( |

Sorry for the double post, but I think there is something wrong from the ignition could onwards,, right?
I mean, ignition coil and further back from there.. Because I plugged a spark lead into the ignition coil, and put a spark plug on its end, and still no fire. What do you guys think? Where can the problem be? |

Could be TFI or the Dizzy itself.

SWC wrote: Could be TFI or the Dizzy itself. That ctossed my mind too, but when I plugged a spark lead directly from the ignition coil to a spark plug, I still saw no spark. That way, I completely bypassed the dizzy and all of its gizmo. Is my method correct? |
