well i have turboed my el xr6,and then blew the headgasket so i put a 1,3mm head gasket into it.after the head gasket change the car over heats after about 15 20 mins of driving, temp slowly goes up.ive changed radiator with a mates one that we know was working well, took the thermostat out, what else could it be? if it was water pump wouldn't it constantly overheat and also it seems as though the cap isnt holding pressure could this be it? il be replacing the cap tomorrow but is there anything else i should check?

Could be waterpump s**t itself. Did you get the head crack tested?

the place that machined it said it was all good, its not mixing oil and water aswell,if a water pump s**t itself wouldnt that mean under accelration it would overheat straight away and also it would make noise

Not always man. Have you ever changed the waterpump? Sometimes (rarly) the fins corrode off and dosnt create any flow.
You're thermofans working? |

have you checked the radiator? give it a good flush, could be blocked.

When you go turbo shouldn't you get a bigger radiator, or is it a low boost set up

Was it a genuine ford head gasket?
Maybe some of the water gallery holes in it weren't big enough or weren't there at all? Cheers, Tim

Need to check the temp of the rad at one end, and temp at the other to see if the rad is pulling enough heat out of it.
I like to see engine oil coolers fitted when a turbo or high HP is asked from an engine. Make sure the a/c condencer isn't blocked too.

ive taken the aircon out all together.the head gasket was a 1.3mm mls-r gasket with new head bolts. I wouldnt have a clue about the water gallery holes but all i know is im over this.also tonight i thought id take it up and down the street and the harmonic balancer somehow managed to come forward and throw the belt off.

Did you do the head gasket yourself ????
Is the ignition curve been remapped for forced induction ??? Have you got a turbo specific cam in it ???
