Hey guys,
Got a set of pre-au thyphoon rims (18") and got the front ones put on at a tyre place and they did the nuts up REALLY tight ! ( I mean to the point that I can't take some off by hand). When I ended up putting the rear two rims on the car I tightened them by hand but the other day the nuts had come loose. So my question is does anyone know a specific amount of torque that should be applied to these wheels? Cheers |

100 -150 Nm of torque or
73 ft lbs - 110 ft lbs of torque. According to the Ford Factory manual. 150 Nm for the front and 100-150 Nm for the rear. |

check the nuts are the correct ones! they may have supplied commodore nuts, while they will go on, they are the incorrect pitch and will work themselves loose, as you have discovered.

I always tighten them to about 120Nm of torque...has never failed on me. To get them off I use a T-bar with an extension pole on the end of the T-bar.

Thanks again guys
Before I got any replies I put em to 105Nm so in the right field there and took it for a drive, the issue had gone. Will check em again in bout 100km. Well the only reason why I didnt worry bout the nuts being from a different vehicle was because they were from my 16" ftr rims. Could this still cause an issue? Yeah I normally use the socket with extension bar and with all my weight on it 85+kg it still didnt budge the little sucker on the front. Guess for the moment atleast they won't be going anywhere |
