I have a feeling my AU's power is being held back by s**t stock paper filter, dirty throttle body and old, factory exhaust. The EA was the same when i first got it. It felt so much more aggressive in the power output and better on the fuel economy once i sorted those problems out.
I'll be putting all those parts in over the next 3 weeks, so we'll see if it improves. Not too long after that, there'll be some forced induction going in too, which SHOULD help a little

the ea s-pac was 139kw and the ed gli was around the 140 mark somewhere maybe 142kw

My EBII owners manual says 145kW @4250rpm and 341Nm @3500rpm.
My XG owners manual says 148kW and 348Nm, from memory. One thing i like about the AU motor is the thinner oil, 30w. I tested different weight oils in a previous car and found a significant difference in power, revability and fuel economy. I think the difference between a 45w versus a 30w could be around 3 to 6%. If the AU's power rating is the same as the previous model then they must have detuned it somewhat, otherwise the oil change would have boosted the power rating.

yeah its a good vintage. you would think that in 4 years a group of ford fans would have had a defining post. But it came up in the revolving latest topics thingo on the home page so me says free threadmine!!!
