Hi guys and girls.
Im looking at buying a new car for work. what are peoples thoughts on the ford Territiory?? I have an EF XR so, getting a BA XR isnt really a high priority ( I have my fast / fun car ) so im looking for something comfy and good for long distance. also... what sort of $$ would i expect to pay for a good cond / low km territiory?? Cheers, Adam

Territory is a good car.
Its going to use more fuel than your XR tho.

fuel isnt a problem - its a company car, so they pay for it

Will they fork out for a Turbo Territory?
If the timing is right and the wallet is in good condition, I will seriously be considering a Turbo Territory for my next purchase. |

Territory's are holding their price, so it may very well be worth looking at new ones.
Due to their weight they are a little thirstier & a little underpowered, compared too the BA/BF.

they give me $1000 a month to do what i want...
im starting to think maybe a BA turbo XR might be the way to go for a few years then trade up to something better when the time comes?? Its hard to decide.... I have seen some BA XR Turbos for around $22-$25k - but they have around 70,000 on the clock..... I wish they made a XR wagon in the BA series!!!

If it's an 03 or early 04 model then that works out to be around 25,000 clicks a year which is very reasonable. |

When you count fuel, maintenance and driving costs, a $12,000 per year car allowance will be lucky to get you a new XT, let alone an XR or Territory... You'd have to ask the boss what part of that $1000 is allowed for fuel and maintenance to see what kind of car you can afford. |

i think go the territory, such a nice vehicle to drive, i was nearly considering one over the futura, but i thought they were priced pretty high still, they arent too bad these days i dont think, but they would hold their value better than a sedan.

Yeah I agree. And with a nice set of wheels (tasteful wheels) they've got great road presence, without having that typical 4wd "I'm compensating for inadequecies" look. |

besides the window sliders braking and lower ball joints going on them its a good car but yea thirsty like the others have said and get the 6 speed gearbox its a lot smoother

They give me a fuel card on top of the money for the car. Im gonna head down to a local ford dealer on the weekend and test drive the territory, seeing as I will own the car at the end of all this, I want something that is going to hold its value as much as possible... but if I get a 2nd hand car, I think the XR might be the better option...???

Id get the xr or even a ghia over a territory, its a bit too heavy in weight and fuel to be a everyday car for myself; personal pref, i say drive all three and decide!
