Gday i was just looking over my engine and i found this snapped spring just hanging off one of its hooks. Whats it for, and can this stuff or bugger anything up?

Supposed to pull the throttle shut when the accelerator is released i think

Its just a return spring, and a Ford only part. So go to a Ford dealer.
Doesn't do much apart from give the pedal a bit more feel. Without it, the accelerator pedal will tend to be very light and touchy, if you like that. When mine snapped, the snapped end got caught on something and held the throttle at WOT. Now that was interesting! |

I have snapped one, as said it serves to supplement the return spring on the actual TB.
Without it it does not fully return though, most springs of a similar dimension will do, I made do for a while by re-bending the end that snapped.

The last thing I'd be wanting to do is replace my broken one with one that is aready 10 to 13 years old. |
