Hey guys, after recently flushing my radiator and changing the overflow bottle on my EL 4l the LPG converter has frozen twice after a few minutes of driving im assuming that theres air getting into the converter and stopping it from warming up. Ive read that the solution to this is to bleed the converter but i have no idea how to. any input would appreciated, cheers guys

pull 1 hose off and fill till the water is full in hose,or running out the coverter, also put heater to hot setting, may take a bit to bleed.run motor until normal temp. is reached, both hoses will be hot.

ok ill give that a go, does it matter where i pull the hose of though? is it better to pull it off from the thermostat housing or from the converter its self?

ive had this problem on both my cars that have LPG and the only way I could stop it happening was to route the hoses to the converter properly...both times the original installation was done poorly and there was bugger all flow to the convertor...
dont know why but i had the cars for quite a while before they started having a problem, i tried a lot of things but re-routing was the only way to fix the problem in the end

If it has genuine Ford fitted LPG system, there are 2, 10mm headed plugs that are underneath the converter. Take them out to drain oil that comes from the gas. This helps with idle quality.
That oil stinks too.

cool ill give that a try a little later one, cjh, Im not too sure if its factory fitted, it is a vialle system though which im pretty sure is what they use out of the factory, this oil that drains out does that need to be replaced?
cheers

yeah if its a tickford system i would highly doubt that the hoses would be the problem....but....I once had a problem with dirt/rust clogging up one of the outlets on the heater bypass tube...took the hose off and poked a small screwdriver down it and this fixed it...

my XF did this exact thing. i put a new water pump on it and the new pump pressure pushed some rusty particles into the converter water jakcet, blocking it and causing it to freeze. if bleeding it doen't work try my idea meaning you'll have to pull the converter apart and put a rebuild kit through it

cheers No, its what comes out of the gas. If its genuine LPG system, it will have a Tickford LPG plate riveted on the car, usually on the pass side of the engine bay near the shockie mount.
