On a drive from Port Augusta to Horsham, 740ks on the clock, fuel gauge still reading 1/4, Trip computer telling me 130 to go. :D

Across the nullabour I managed 530kms for 40L or 7.5L per 100

I agree, driving the XR8 enthusiastically or economically doesn’t seem to make much difference. Only noticeable gain I get is on the freeway below 120km/h.
Due to this I know all my local servo guys by name now.

s**t, My 2001 XLS ute has a 83 litre fuel tank & only manage 620ks on vortex. then again I always fill up when I hear the ding. ding. ding. between 60-80ks on the DTE meter. so maybe 680-700k give or take, & thats driving economically.

i'll be lucky to get 500 around town. usually 450, although i've been driving pretty hard lately. interested to see if the new exhaust helps at all. close to 700 long distance. sure would like to be getting 600+ around town.

I'd be booking her in for a good tune-up and service. The cash you save on fuel will easily pay for it!

Just put full exhaust on my ef xr6 and it made a huge difference to fuel consumption - i get a lot more km out of a tank. THe car still runs like s**t so figures arnet special but was noticeable better after the exhaust (or at least that how i justify it to the wife!).
