Just wondering what everyone else is getting out of there 4.0L's.
Yesterday I got 695km out of my tank in my EL futura sedan. This was some Highway driving, some city driving, even through the hills to a performance shop to get quotes, dyno power runs. I was rather impressed to say the least.

Best I got was 750km on a tank using 98 octane fuel - driving from Sydney to Thredbo and back to coma last year during the snow season. Basically all highway driving. As for the city i think i get about 400-450 approx.

Jesus I thought I was doing well with 700km from a tank on ultimate 98 on my GLi auto and 650km on my XR6 manual.
Ford Falcons are the best there is no doubt about it. |

Have to love the 350-400km outta the XR8.
If only 8's weren't so addictive.

Im getting roughly 500kms to a tank with my XR6, however it is due for a major tune up so its not exactly running its best atm But i dont care about petty since putting the new exhaust on ive been driving on gas pretty much the whole time (except for start ups) with just about the same power but cheaper too run. Im getting 400-450kms from a tank of gas... Only cost $28 to fill.

thats some good figures guys, the fbt usually gets about 450 around town; the old 6cyl fairlane would easily do 750 n a bit more on the hwy to brissy.
Do miss the kms, but dont miss the 6cyl.

Your lucky Daniel, even after fixing the hego sensors, harmonic balancer and done timing I still only get 350 to a tank around town and lucky to pull 650 on the highway. I think it's time to test drive a new ECU just to see if it makes any difference!!!!
I could only dream of the day that I get 800 to a tank, and 450 or so for around town. |

I must admit the foot can get pretty heavy at times, but I have found that even if I'm on a tight budget for fuel for the week and I try and drive economically, it still seems to guzzle it down.
I don't think having an exhaust helps, always wanting to hear a bit of a note, and stop starting driving in peak hour seems to be the worst. |

mm, i know what you mean - foot can turn into a brick sometimes, but its not like i always do it..
i usually just drive to work n back (<5min) then a few 40km runs every week, doesnt seem to matter if i try to drive conservately all the time, i cant see the kms gained to be honest, maybe its the way these car are?

Must be hillier in Sydney I get 350-400 from a tank around town. Sydney to Canberra cruise 650k absolute max.
Yes it is running rich. |
