Drove to Cooma yesterday (via the freeway) in the EF wagon, holding 90-100kph all the way, and got 8.1lt/100km. Wind behind me to Canberra, then against me to Cooma.
Will see how she goes driving around the snowys (I'm here for five days of fishing). The only issue was this morning (other than freezing my tits off without even a bite), was when I started the engine, and the door locks went berserk, opening and closing the locks in rapid succession. It stopped after I switched the engine off, and did not happen again.I read somewhere here of this happening.

It's common in the E-series, especially the wagons. It's caused by either failure or misadjustment of the power lock motors. In my EF wagon, it was the one in the tailgate. You might have to disconnect each motor in turn to find the bad one. A quick fix (for the tailgate at least) is to disconnect the motor and use the key

The only way I know is to take the door (or tailgate) inside panel off, and disconnect the motor at the connector. A straight and a philips screwdriver and a socket set (for the door handles) are all the tools you should need. Once you figure out how they are attached, they take 5 minutes max to remove. The tailgate panel has a strip of double-sided tape where it meets the window - this needs to be pried loose.

Door locks have been fine since that crazy morning.
Drove back from Jindabine via Cooma, Canberra, Boorowa (lovely little town - go take the town historic walk), Cowra, and Bathurst. Got 9.1km/100km, cruising at legal speeds. I might add, I'm pretty light-footed. I never accelerate uphill, for example - constant throttle and let the torque do the work. It might mean going up the hills at 80kph instead of 100kph, but I don't care.
