Its located near passenger side rear wheel underneath.try not to over tighten because its easy to damage fuel line.my mechanic has replaced heaps of el fuel lines because of this overtightening

if you do overtighten it and bugger the thread, just get a filter with a barbed connection and some fuel hose and hose clamps, no need to replace the fuel line.
don't forget that any connection you make has to withstand in excess of 60psi |

fuel filter is not that hard to replace. i have done 2 so far...one in my EA (disaster) and from my first replacement i have learnt to replace my EL much easier without any laceration.
anyways its located on the passenger side under the car near the rear door. before you remove it, either unplug the power to the fuel pump or remove the fuel relay, start the car let it run until it stops and then remove the fuel filter.....the previous step is to reduce the pressure in the line....then replace with new filter...making sure it is put in the right way...it only flows one way. phong =P~

open the boot and lift the floor carpet.
looking on the LHS towards the seats you will see a round metal lid with about 6 screws, unscrew it and unplug the connector inside that

Just a quick Tip!
I replaced my original one on the EL at about 90000km and this stuff might help you. Your car probably would still be using the factory fuel filter and they can be a b**ch to get off. If you start rounding off the bolt hex heads on the fuel lines then try a pair of good multi-grip clamps. Also get a RYCO one, they are alloy and go on easy, just don't over tighten it. Cheers..

the one i just took out was real heavy and had brown muck come out, didn't smell like fuel. (didn't smell like anything) and better much now
the only thing is i think on the really late el's the stopped putting six screews in the pump cover and glued it down insted! i needed a chisle and hammer to get the f**k thing off! mangled it but got him off!
