i was thinking about this. Seeing as the car is off the road i thought i might tidy the motor but wasnt sure what i do about cleaning injectors.
How would you clean them by taking them out? And people this the fuel stuff is the way to go huh?

Ive used the fuel additive in the past. I dont think it does a hell of a lot to clean the injectors (wont magically make dirty injectors like new) but I think they do prolong injector life when used semi-regularly.

I use Nulon Injector cleaner in my 88EA and my bike. Regular changing of the fuel filter helps too, like every 20,000kms. The servos don't change their filters in the bowsers, i've seen the evidence. How else do you get about 250grams of rust in a plastic fuel tank over 8-10 years?

any chemical u pour into your fuel tank is gonna be junk. the only way to clean injectors is to take them out and stick em on a flow bench.
the only way chemical additives will work is if u use them regularly to prevent the buildups. once the buildups are there....tuff. they can actually do more bad than good. bad fuel leaves a residue which will quite happily stick to the inside of your fuel tank, lines etc and if u stick an additive in there it cleans the residue off. if u'r lucky your fuel filter will catch it all but if theres enough muck it will either block your filter completely or punch a hole thru it. if it gets through you wanna be friendly with your bank manager cos it'll cost heaps to fix. fuel companies dont advertise the fact but there is a huge difference between the grades of fuel and base unleaded has no where near the properties or refining as the premiums or ultimates/optimax etc. use a good fuel and you should never nned the junk they sell on the shelves at your local servo
